An exciting new addition has arrived to Bright’s food scene to help reduce waste! The Dish Pig, a converted horse float equipped with a commercial dishwasher and hundreds of mugs, plates, bowls, and cutlery, has been introduced by Plasticwise Bright and will be managed by the Alpine Shire Council.
The Dish Pig will be available for use at community events, starting with the upcoming Mug Library and market on this Saturday 18 March. The innovative mobile service will enable locals to enjoy their coffee or food while reducing single-use plastic waste. The project is a welcome initiative in a world where environmental concerns are becoming increasingly important.
We encourage you to keep an eye out for the Dish Pig and make use of the service at upcoming community events. The Dish Pig is an excellent example of how small changes can have a significant impact on the environment, and we look forward to seeing more innovative projects like this in the future!
Plasticwise Bright run the Mug Library at the monthly Make It, Bake It Grow it markets in Bright. The market is held on the third Saturday of the month and volunteers are always welcome! Please contact Anne Heupermann anneheuperman@gmail.com
