PlasticWise Bright is a passionate, not-for-profit community group dedicated to inspiring practical ways we can all reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, and share our resources. We believe that by working together, we can significantly minimize waste heading to landfill in our beautiful Alpine Shire.
We bring this mission to life through a range of impactful local initiatives and projects, including:
- Alpine Unwrapped: Encouraging the use of reusables for takeaway food and drinks.
- The Dish Pig / Mug Library: Making reusable cups accessible at local markets and events.
- Clothes Swaps: Giving pre-loved clothing a new life and reducing textile waste.
- Community Picnic / Party Boxes: Providing reusable solutions for gatherings.

Alpine Unwrapped: Embracing Reusables in Our Community
Alpine Unwrapped is a flagship initiative, born from a fantastic partnership between PlasticWise Bright and Sustainable Upper Ovens, and proudly supported by funding from DELWP Hume. Its core aim is to promote the widespread adoption of reusable cups and containers for takeaway food, drinks, and produce across our community. The response has been incredible, with new businesses joining every week!
Our goal is to cultivate a culture where both locals and visitors naturally expect, encourage, and support single-use alternatives. So, next time you’re out and about in Bright and the Alpine Shire, remember to bring your reusable cups, containers, and bags.
